Back-to-School…Kids R First Partners with Organizations in Northern VA

Back packs are given to schools KRF serves through:

  • Cornerstones - Reston and Herndon schools
  • Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) - Chantilly and Centreville schools
  • To Donate back packs through (RI) or (WFCM)
  • What’s Collect for Kids and how is Kids R First linked?

    * Kids R First is proud of its shared model with other Non-profits in Fairfax County.

    In August,2011, the first year of a pilot program was completed by (8) other non profits in Fairfax County using KRF model of customizing their school supply order and purchasing under the umbrella of KRF buying power with Office Depot The non-profits nearly doubled their number of kids helped and large savings were realized.

    This pilot program, now named, “Collect for Kids” has been guided by Fairfax Country Government staff in the Office of Public Private Partners (OP3) (Swain Pessaud and Vance Zavella) and. Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Business Partners (Jay Garrant).

    The Goal: To have…collaboration of non-profits, companies, and/private citizens wanting to provide supplies to needy kids at Fairfax County Public Schools. These are schools not served by Kids R First.. The model asks: Donors to provide a backpack and $10 to purchase supplies to go in them.

    Collect for Kids 2012 is powered by the following Program Partners:

    Apple Federal Credit Union, Costco, Cox Communications, Fairfax County Fire Department, Fairfax County OP3, Fairfax County Public Schools, Kids R First, Koinonia, Northwest Federal Credit Union, Reston Interfaith, Salvation Army, Office Depot, Our Daily Bread, United Community Ministries, Wiygul Automotive Clinic, Walmart, and Western Fairfax Christian Ministries
